George McRoberts, a local businessman, founded Service Chevrolet in 1944. He soon hired Bob Johnson as business manager and Hugh Warren as sales manager. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Warren were able to purchase the dealership and became dealers in 1958.

 

Their business thrived and quickly became Southern Oklahoma’s Truck Headquarters. In 1962, the dealership burned and they left their downtown location at 10^th and Constant and moved to the outskirts of Ada. The business once again grew and the town grew around them. The business is located there today.

 

In 1971, Mr. Johnson’s son, Bobby, joined the family business and became a dealer in 1980. In 1998, Bobby was approached with an opportunity to become a full-line General Motors Dealership. Service Chevrolet combined with Hayes Oldsmobile Cadillac and Marion Fenton Pontiac Buick. This successful merger created Service Automall as part of the Fenton Motor Group.

 

In 2007, Shane Johnson, Bobby’s son, purchased Mr. Fenton’s portion of the dealership and once again Service Automall was a true locally owned, family business. Shane is proud to be a third generation dealer.
